A chance passing in Aviemore let me observe the annual Aviemore Sled Dog Rally last Saturday 23rd Jan. It was the 33rd event organised by the Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain at the beautiful forest trails around Loch Morlich just below the Cairngorm Mountains outside Aviemore. There were 1000 beautiful, amazing, fierce, very excited but very lovable sled dogs howling around Aviemore and getting ready for their turn to race. Who knew there were so many different breeds, Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, Greenland Dogs and Canadian Eskimo Dogs. Yep, it goes without saying I fell in love with them all. It was a shame the weather turned out a bit milder and melted all the snow on the trails for them.
I returned to my place of study Aberdeen, to take some pictures for Graham Mitchell Architects of the newly refurbished boutique Chester Hotel (formerly Simpson’s Hotel) on Queens Road in Aberdeen. In collaboration with Graven the 19th century hotel was restyled and extended to provide beautiful striking contemporary accommodation and facilities. The internal public spaces of the hotel are stunning designed by Graven, and compliment the adjacent reception and more private guest areas designed by Ambiance Interiors. It’s certainly a very big and welcome change from memory’s of graduation dinners when it was the Simpson’s Hotel.
